THE INFLUENCE OF CATHARANTHUS ROSEUS (L.) G. DON. ETHANOL EXTRACT IN CLOVE OIL NANOEMULSION: PHYSICAL CHARACTERIZATION, ANTIOXIDANT AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITIES

Objective: This study aimed to develop a topical nanoemulsion using clove oil and ethanol extract of catharanthus roseus (L.) G. for antioxidant antibacterial dosage form. Methods: The was produced spontaneous emulsification method. formulation carried out tween 80 pluronic 127 as surfactants with different concentrations (0.5–2%). characterizations the formula included organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH determination, emulsion type, viscosity, particle size zeta potential, stability test were evaluated. Antioxidant activity conducted DPPH method determined against propionibacterium acnes Staphylococcus epidermidis. Results: result showed that all formulations stable semisolid, clarity, transparent homogenous characteristic. had 5.5-6.5 belong in water (O/W) type emulsion. viscosity ranged from 121.33±0.29 until 211.01±1.00 cps, below than 300 nm, 3 mo storage after accelerated evaluation. contained 2% c. moderate IC50 value 96.29±3.64 10.65±0.15 13.27±0.21 mm inhibition zones epidermidis, respectively. Conclusion: Clove combined nanoemulsion, which demonstrated concentration-dependent activities.
